Carin Shine Counselling & Supervision

Online Counselling and Clinical Supervision from Kensal Rise, London, NW10

Welcome, and thank you for visiting Carin Shine Counselling & Supervision.

I am an accredited member of BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy), with a BA (Hons) degree in Person-Centered Counselling and a Diploma in Supervision, with over 20 years experience as a Counsellor, Clinical Supervisor and Trainer.

I currently work in private practice with adults and young people, having also worked in schools and in the charity sector.

I have extensive experience running and managing accredited counselling training courses and clinical staff training as the previous Head of Learning at the mental health charity Place2Be.

I continue to independently deliver training workshops in the field of children’s mental health, working creatively, attachment behaviours and clinical supervision.

Counselling

The process of counselling facilitates greater self-awareness and understanding of ourselves which enables us to recognise how past experiences may have shaped us and to identify patterns of behaviour that can limit us and stand in the way of leading a more fulfilling and satisfying life.

Whether you’re seeking counselling to help deal with a particular issue or current circumstance, or to make sense and gain understanding of longer term difficulties, I can support you in exploring thoughts and feelings and work collaboratively to cultivate positive change. This self-reflection can help individuals make informed decisions, set meaningful goals, and create a more fulfilling and purposeful life. As a result, clients can become more adept at identifying and implementing effective problem-solving strategies in their daily lives.

I successfully support clients in these areas:

Anxiety

Low Self-esteem

Lack of confidence

Menopause

Identity

Depression

Loss & grief

Anger & frustration

Life transitions

Relationship difficulties

Parenting struggles

Family issues

Working life

Overwhelm

Fertility

Stress related issues

Supervision

I have a Diploma in Clinical Supervision and alongside my private practice supporting practitioners working with adults, children and young people I am an approved supervisor on Metanoia Institute's BSc (Hons) Person-Centered Pluralistic Counselling course and BSc (Hons) Humanistic Counselling course.

Supervision for counsellors is an ethical requirement to maintain good practice and continued professional development. It provides an exploratory space for practitioners to reflect on their work, explore ethical and safeguarding issues, consider their own continuing professional development and feel supported and held throughout their process.

I am interested in the professional and personal development of counsellors and supporting their engagement with clients through deepening their understanding of the dynamics of the therapeutic relationship. I am experienced in using creative materials to enhance perspective and understanding.

The more the therapist is themselves in the relationship, genuine and authentic, the greater is the likelihood that the client will change and grow in a constructive manner.

I also offer supervision to non-therapeutic practitioners (e.g., pastoral care workers, school safeguarding offers) who work with children and young people to support them professionally and emotionally in their role.

Sessions

Counselling can either be time limited, i.e., an agreed number of sessions, or open ended, i.e., working together until the client feels it's the right time to end. As a BACP accredited practitioner, I adhere to their Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.

Location

I work either in-person or via Zoom or a combination of both and am based in Kensal Rise, NW10.
